Myofascial release
in Chico

Slow, sustained work on the connective tissue that wraps every muscle, for the areas that feel stuck rather than simply sore.

What it is

Fascia, and why
it matters.

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and links every muscle, a continuous sleeve running through the whole body. When an area has been overworked, held in one position for years, or guarded after an injury, that tissue can feel tight and restricted, and the restriction can be felt some distance from where it starts.

Myofascial release works on it with sustained pressure and slow stretching, held long enough for the tissue to ease. It is quieter than most massage: fewer long strokes, more patience in one place.

It is one of the core techniques at Kinetic Freedom, and it combines naturally with deep tissue work and cupping in the same session. Clients describe the result in their own words: “I appreciate his ability to find tension in my body and release it.”

Knots & trigger points

Why the pain is
not where the knot is.

Most people call them knots: small, tender, tight spots inside a muscle. Some of them, often called trigger points, send pain somewhere else when they are pressed. That is how a tight spot at the top of the shoulder can show up as a headache, or one deep in the glutes as an ache down the leg.

Working them is part of myofascial work: steady pressure on the spot until it eases, then lengthening the tissue around it so it is less likely to tighten straight back up. It can be briefly intense, and it should always stay within what you are comfortable with.

If you know where yours are, say so at the intake. If you do not, finding them is most of the job.

Who it suits

When stretching is not enough

Stiffness that won't shift

Areas that feel bound up however much you stretch them, or that loosen for an hour and lock again by evening.

Desk and screen posture

The chest, neck and upper back that have spent years rounded toward a keyboard or a phone.

Old injuries and surgeries

Areas that never moved quite the same afterwards. Check with your surgeon before any work near a recent scar.

“I've been going to Isaac for a long time now, and he is so attentive and very much an expert in his field, very knowledgeable and very charismatic and definitely listens to what I have to say. I always come out feeling a lot better body wise, which helps since I've been pretty achy after an accident.”

Questions

Myofascial release, answered

Slow and sustained. Pressure is applied and held, often with a gentle stretch, rather than moved quickly across the skin. Some spots feel intense for a moment and then soften; many people describe a spreading, letting-go sensation.

Deep tissue focuses on the deeper muscle layers with slow strokes. Myofascial release focuses on the connective tissue, using sustained holds and stretches, and is often done with little or no oil so the hands can hold the tissue rather than slide over it. In practice the two are used together.

Yes, that is part of it. Steady pressure on a tender spot until it eases, followed by lengthening the muscle around it, is one of the most common ways to work them.

It depends on how long the area has been restricted. Something that built up over years rarely changes completely in one hour. Most people notice a difference after the first session and more with regular work, and Isaac will give you a straight answer once he has had his hands on the area.

There is no separate booking for it. Book any massage length and ask for myofascial work at the intake; the session is built around it.
