Massage after
a car accident

For the stiffness that shows up a week later, the neck that will not turn, and the back that has not been right since. Talk to Isaac before you book.

After the collision

What an accident
leaves behind.

Even a low-speed collision puts the body through a jolt it was not braced for. The muscles of the neck, shoulders and back often respond by tightening and guarding, and that stiffness frequently arrives days later rather than at the scene.

A meaningful share of the people on Isaac's table are there because of a car accident. The work is the same therapeutic massage he does for everyone, focused on where the accident landed: the neck and upper back, the low back and hips, and the shoulder and chest that took the seatbelt.

If you have not been checked by a doctor since the accident, start there. Massage works best alongside medical care and physical therapy, not in place of them.

The paperwork side

Working with your attorney and insurer.

“Isaac helped me so much after my car crash. He made the whole process easy by working directly with my lawyer and insurance, which allowed me to focus on healing. I'm so grateful for his care and would highly recommend him!”
Kelly Smith, Google review

Clients have had Isaac coordinate directly with their attorney and their insurer, so the administrative side stayed out of the way while they recovered.

Every claim is different, so this starts with a conversation rather than an online booking. Call or email with the basics: when the accident happened, who is handling your claim, and whether a doctor or your attorney has recommended massage. Isaac will tell you plainly what he can and cannot do.

Attorneys and case managers: the same applies when you are referring a client. Get in touch with the claim details first.

Common after a collision

Where it usually lands

Neck and whiplash-type pain

Tightness through the neck, upper back and base of the skull, often with headaches. More on neck and shoulder pain.

Low back and hip pain

From bracing, from the seat, and from the way the body twisted in the moment. More on low back pain.

Shoulder and chest tightness

Where the seatbelt held you, and the muscles that have been guarding around it ever since.

“I've been going to Isaac for a long time now, and he is so attentive and very much an expert in his field, very knowledgeable and very charismatic and definitely listens to what I have to say. I always come out feeling a lot better body wise, which helps since I've been pretty achy after an accident.”

“I've been seeing Isaac regularly for almost a year now, and it's been one of the better things I've done for myself. He is professional, knowledgeable, and experienced, and he understands how to meet you where you are, whether you're recovering from physical demands or need to slow down and release tension. I leave each session feeling restored.”

Questions

After an accident, answered

Many people find massage helps with the muscle tension and stiffness that follow a collision. See a doctor first, to rule out anything that needs medical care, and ask whether massage is appropriate for you.

Once a doctor has checked you. Early sessions are usually gentler, and the depth of the work increases as things settle.

It depends on your claim, your policy and your attorney. Some clients have had Isaac work directly with their attorney and insurer. Call (530) 715-1180 before booking and he will tell you what is workable in your situation.

Not to book a massage. If you are going through a claim, your attorney or insurer may want a recommendation from your doctor, so ask them.

Then book like anyone else: choose a length online and mention the accident at the intake, so the session is planned around it.

Call or email with the claim details, and Isaac will confirm what he can take on before your client books.
